James Ryan Maggart M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Maggart grew up in El Paso, Texas but his family moved to Spring in 1992. He graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 1995 and then attended Texas Tech University School of Medicine, graduating in 1999. Dr. Maggart completed his general surgery residency at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio in 2004 and has been practicing general surgery in The Woodlands and Conroe since graduation. He recently joined Surgical Group of The Woodlands in July 2012. He is board certified by The American Board of Surgery and a Fellow of The American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Maggart has served in many hospital leadership positions including Chairman and Co-Chairman of general surgery at Conroe Regional Medical Center. He also has served on multiple committees including the Peer Review and Quality of Care Committees at St. Luke’s Hospital in The Woodlands and is The Woodlands representative to the Surgery Clinical Programs Committee for Memorial Hermann Hospital.

Dr. Maggart’s interests include general and advanced laparoscopic surgery. He treats diseases of the abdominal organs, breast, hernias, and hemorrhoids and specializes in laparoscopic colon, gallbladder, and appendix removal, as well as laparoscopic hernia repair and minimally invasive hemorrhoid surgery.

Dr. Maggart is married with two sons and values his faith and family while enjoying fitness, travel, and sports.
